University of Leicester Founded in 1989, the University of Leicester School of Management (ULSM) offers a range of courses in management studies which combines the highest academic standards with knowledge of the demands of organisations, public and private, domestic and international. The School of Management plays a leading role in the life of the University. Located in the Ken Edwards Building, the School of Management has superb facilities including lecture theatres, computer laboratories, conference rooms and everything you would expect from a purpose-built unit. The School of Management continues to be one of the most rapidly expanding departments in the University. The University of Leicester School of Management has 38 permanent academic staff and 10 international Faculty members whose special interests cover a wide range of subjects. These include public sector management, the management of change, investment appraisal, fiscal and monetary policy, industrial economics, forecasting, export marketing, business decision techniques, business finance and capital budgeting, corporate strategy, international business, financial theory, corporate policy, knowledge management and e-commerce. Leicester's strategy for teaching excellence and the development of management skills is through an industry-led approach. This enables particular emphasis to be placed on the use of case studies and individual and group presentations. It also enables students to adopt a computer-integrated approach to problem solving. Our practical and theoretical knowledge of international business, both public and private, has been gained in companies and through rigorous academic research. This places us in an ideal position to develop an advanced portfolio of interesting and challenging management degrees suitable for a wide range of students. It is our aim to develop managers with the confidence and skills to lead tomorrow's organisations. We keep in close contact with the needs of private and public sector organisations through a series of executive development programmes. Managers from major national and international organisations give presentations to students. This helps to illustrate and reinforce the relevance of our study programmes. Our management programmes include the popular Master of Business Administration, the MSc in Finance, the MSc in Marketing and the MSc in Management. Other programmes include the Diploma in Management, the Certificate in Management and opportunities to study for MPhil, MSc in Management Research and PhD programmes.
